Me in front of the New York Stock Exchange, October 2001
I remember my mom waking me up on the morning of September 11, 2001. My dad was on a business trip in Eastern Europe at the Time and had called from Riga, Latvia. “Turn on the TV, something is happening in New York.” We turned on the TV in my room to the sight of smoke billowing out of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Moments or minutes later, I can’t remember, we watched the second plane crash into the South Tower. At first I thought it was a replay of what had happened to the North Tower. “No” my mom said, we had just seen it happen live.
