ir111_francis_200x267 Today marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Dr. Samuel T. Francis (April 29, 1947-February 15, 2005). Dr. Francis greatly influenced my understanding of American politics, culture and society. Tragically, he passed away following surgery, but his legacy lives on in the form of hundreds of articles and compilations of his essays, as well as a fascinating, intellectual biography of James Burnham. Unfortunately I never met, nor corresponded with Dr. Francis, but his writings still speak volumes and challenge the conventional wisdom and politically correct thinking of our age. Dr. Francis paid dearly for staying true to his beliefs, but his stalwart adherence to principle only serves to further burnish his reputation in comparison to the small men that assaulted his livelihood. Here is a brief letter I wrote to VDare.com (a website on immigration issues that I link to) which was published today: http://www.vdare.com/letters/a-reader-in-poland-remembers-sam-francis Peter Brimelow’s (the editor of VDare.com) “In Memoriam Sam Francis” piece from 2005 is here: http://www.vdare.com/articles/in-memoriam-sam-francis-april-29-1947-february-15-2005 Perhaps his most powerful collection of essays, Shots Fired: Sam Francis on America’s Culture War, is available on Amazon.
