Seventy years ago today, April 29, 1945, Oflag VII-A, a prison camp for Polish officers in Murnau, Germany, was liberated by the 101st Cavalry of the U.S. Army. Among the more than 5,000 prisoners at the camp were both of my grandfathers, Konrad and Kazimierz. Shortly I will be posting pictures from my visit to Murnau last week and a tour of the German army barracks that still operate in the buildings of the former camp.
